After a tragic mountain biking accident in Laguna Beach, Chris Hukill was lifted out of a canyon with the help of about 30 firefighters and policemen. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for broken cervical and thoracic vertebrae in his neck and torso, a punctured lung, contusions and a small brain bleed. Doctors told Hukill that he was paralyzed, not knowing if he would ever be able to walk again. After his hospital stay, Hukill spent several months at CareMeridian Santiago/Silverado where he slowly regained strength. He went from being unable to stand up to walking across a room unassisted in just a few months, which he describes as an incredibly emotional experience. We couldn’t be more proud to help people like Chris Hukill regain their strength at CareMeridian.
