In March 2011, Helen Magnusson, 61, suffered from multiple pelvic fractures and breaks in her ribs, hip, foot and ankle after a freak accident which trapped her under her car in her own driveway. After seven days in intensive care, Helen was transferred to CareMeridian Cowan Heights.
At CareMeridian, Helen’s interdisciplinary treatment team immediately began an exercise regime to negate long-term tissue damage and when she next visited her doctor and the bandages were removed, he was amazed at the progress and assured her everything would heal properly. In an intimate, non-institutional environment, Helen was able to receive frequent visits from her daughter, son and treasured pet, a Maltese named Babette. Eventually, after extensive rehabilitation, CareMeridian staff was able to take Helen on outings to Starbucks and the beauty salon for manicures and pedicures.
After several months at CareMeridian Cowan Heights, Helen was able to return to her home in June 2011 and embrace a normal life.
